Guimaraes is known as the Cradle of Portugal, this is a precious medieval city very well kept and with unique urbanism from Middle Age. Despite Guimaraes having already been 2012 European Capital of Culture and 2013 European Sports City, it’s a city unspoilled by tourism, with amazing monuments, museuns, excellent gastronomy and wines, with a very special taste and atmosphere and lots of young people that meet in the medieval squares, crowded with pubs and coffe shops. Guimaraes is also the perfect base to explore several Citanias (iron age villages) and Geres National Park (a paradise on Earth), as well as for visiting Amarante (a small city, with amazing monuments and painting museum).
